Tastey Dessert

Oil
9"x12"

It happened on the way to class. Flowers for my painting class were chosen, ready to check out, when I glanced in the direction of the colorful desserts in the case. Hmmm and Mmmm at the same time. A change of plan as I chose an assortment of goodies. It was enjoyable and a challenge to paint and our theme for the night was we eat what we paint. Next week it will be wine, bread and cheeses. Never to late to join the class.

Keystone Bridge

Oil
9"x12"

This was a painting I completed for my class. It was the first meeting, so we actually painted from a photographic reference. Not ideal, but lessons to be learned, especially in editing. They got a great start and I will look at the end products tomorrow when we meet on the actual canal and paint en plein-air.

Ride Along the Canal

Oil
12"x16"

This was a plein-air painting I did over the weekend along the Broad Ripple Canal. The challenge was to create an interesting contrast among the shapes of the buildings and the nature and activity along the canal.

This painting was completed for the new: http://differentstrokesfromdifferentfolks.blogspot.com. The blog and concept were set up by Karin Jurick. Take a look at the many variations on the photograph she furnished.

September Sun

Oil...12"x16"

This painting was more of a color study, using a different palette of color. I love the rich, warm colors achieved.

Into the Woods

Oil...16"x20"

This was the painting I completed at the New Harmony Paint-Out last April. It won a merit award, but after hanging it in my gallery and seeing it every day, I decided to go back into it with major changes in the sky. I also increased the darks in the wooded area.
