This was the second variation from the stock photo. I put the photo away and worked from my earlier study. I get bored easily and had no interest in making a copy, but chose to go with the flow and let it come to life. Much bolder...just can't stay away from that orange.

Your paintings are remarkable. Would you tell us the combo of colors you use to get that beautiful glow?

The color choices are very basic with a limited palette. The big difference is that I prep the canvas with an orange wash and allow that to come through. I also do the initial drawing with Alizarin and let that color come through the overlay of colors. If you look at the larger version of some of the works you can see the 2 colors.
