Small World

I continue to be amazed at the internet and how it brings people together...and I'm not talking about chat rooms. Last week I received and email request from Irit Levy asking for permission to show one of my paintings (Landscape Mosaic) on her blog. She is a painter turned mosaic artist and does fantastic work. She posted her story today and if you are interested, you can see it here:

October Hues

The color experiment in this work was to contrast the hot reds against the deep blues and violets. The touch of green in the lower trees was to bring the color up from the surface greens.

San Francisco Street

This is the latest assignment from the DSFDF . Karin posted a photograph that was quite a challenge to paint. It required major editing. There was a lot of stuff that didn't need to be painted. I remembered the Ken Auster tip from a workshop 3 years ago about having a warm side and a cool side of the street. I also took liberty to alter the sky color and introduce the late evening sky.

Painting Demo

A Week of Trees

Friday night was my 2nd opportunity to do a painting demo at Clay Terrace. It was in front of the HOMExperience Store. Paul Estridge has been holding Friday night casual gatherings for artists and patrons to gather, have a glass of wine and listen to music. Nothing too complex in the 2 hr. demo here, and enjoyed the free brushwork, a glass of wine and talking to interesting people. A big thanks to Paul for setting this up.
