2010 starts with a One Man Show (that sounds sexist...so I will call it a Solo Exhibition or One Person Show) at the Jewish Community Center, here in Indianapolis. The JCC has a very nice gallery space and I am pleased to be included as a featured artist. Thanks to Mindi Epstein and Lisa Freeman for all of their help and support. The opening (for those of you in the area) is Thursday, January 7, 5:30 to 7:30 pm. I have 15 works on display. Hope you can join me at the reception.

The thinking behind this painting was to work with a limited palette and mute all of the colors. Lately, these more abstract works begin with a drawing that remains throughout the painting. I like the way line can break the shapes and patterns and the initial color helps pull the overall painting shapes and colors together. Some of the recent works are much more tactile and have been influenced by my other life as an etcher/printmaker.

A little break from the flat brush, this is a work, I wanted to complete from the Bardstown paint-out back in October. I enjoy driving the back roads and discovering an interesting subject to paint. This was late in the day with nice long shadows to break up the foreground field and road.
Another abstract landscape, continuing the abstract representation. I have had a few collectors express some interest in previous works that had the orange and red sky. So...here it is, bold and hot in color intensity. Tonalists beware! It may be more color than you are capable of seeing.
