Small World
I continue to be amazed at the internet and how it brings people together...and I'm not talking about chat rooms. Last week I received and email request from Irit Levy asking for permission to show one of my paintings (Landscape Mosaic) on her blog. She is a painter turned mosaic artist and does fantastic work. She posted her story today and if you are interested, you can see it here: http://iritlevyart.wordpress.com/2009/08/31/landscape-works-birch-trees/

San Francisco Street

This is the latest assignment from the DSFDF . Karin posted a photograph that was quite a challenge to paint. It required major editing. There was a lot of stuff that didn't need to be painted. I remembered the Ken Auster tip from a workshop 3 years ago about having a warm side and a cool side of the street. I also took liberty to alter the sky color and introduce the late evening sky.

A Week of Trees

Friday night was my 2nd opportunity to do a painting demo at Clay Terrace. It was in front of the HOMExperience Store. Paul Estridge has been holding Friday night casual gatherings for artists and patrons to gather, have a glass of wine and listen to music. Nothing too complex in the 2 hr. demo here, and enjoyed the free brushwork, a glass of wine and talking to interesting people. A big thanks to Paul for setting this up.
