From Green Fields to the Purple Pass

Each time I approach a blank canvas I try to be innovative, experimental, open and improvisational and sometimes just different.
Landscapes don't always have to be horizontal and I've never been shy in the use of color. So, here it is. The first of a series, to explore the process of applying paint and texture to the canvas. It was so enjoyable to lose myself in this painting and to bring it to closure.

I went through my photographic reference photos I had last year from teaching the workshop in Midland and wanted to return to the visual theme of morning light filtering through the pine trees. I remembered the many branches crossing to create the illusion of a stained glass window.
