I have started a series of paintings that will be a collaboration with Polly, my wife and poet. Sometimes, the words come first and other times the painting can be an inspiration for words. We will try both in what I hope will be an enjoyable series of new works.

Painting a Poem

A blank canvas and a palette of words – some for sunlight,
some for shade, some for the distant storm. That sky, those
clouds, a line of jeweled trees – a composition as common

as color, a poem painted by many before. Will this time be
different? Possibly not, but inspiration is in the odds. And so,
I wait for the words to dry.
